Shipping

Shipping Automation is one of the key features of Laris. Laris is integrated with UPS, USPS, FedEx and DHL. For more information about setting up shipping integrations, see Shipping Courier Settings, which is located in Step 6 of your Control Panel.

There are two menus in the Shipping drop down:

Process Shipments
Manage Shipments

Don't worry though if you use Fixed Shipping, see this tutorial on how to best use Laris & your Fixed Shipping requirements. You'll still Process Shipments, but not use the shipping calculator in your eBay Template.

Ok, now keep in mind, that there are actually two different ways that you can Process Shipments. You can use the Process Shipments feature OR Ship by Order.

Best Practice: Try both ways! Take a week, split your shipments in half and try each method. One may fit into your existing workflow better or work the best with your business.

Add a New Shipment

If you get a phone order, or just want to print out a shipping label for some reason, you can just create a shipment, by going to Manage Shipments and clicking the Create a New Shipment button, in the center of the screen.

Process Shipments Method

This is how to process a shipment when you go to the Process Shipments menu, in the Shipping drop down menu.

  • At the top of the page, you will see "Process by Carriers". This will let you narrow down the shipments that you are processing by which Shipping Carrier they chose.
  • The process shipments screen allows you to see/change the customer information (shipping address)
  • Notice the Options and Tracking section.
    • There is a direct link back to the order, if you need to make changes.
    • The shipping service is displayed.
    • You can opt to Send a notification, choose Saturday Delivery, or documents only
    • Choose your billing option.
    • etc..
    • Now notice the packages associated with the order. They will be labeled, Package # 1, Package #2, etc...
    • This is the section that you can change the weight and dimensions for the package you are sending out.
    • The Box Types drop down is populated by the Packaging Materials section of the Control Panel.
    • You can add packages with the Green button below.
    • If you're shipping with USPS make sure the Confirmation check box is checked off!
    • If you're using DAZzle, How to Process and Export Shipments to DAZzle.
    • If you're using Endicia Label Server, How to buy postage and print labels.

Combining Packages

  • You can also, move products from multiple packages into one, if you need to.
    • The best way to explain this is that, if you have multiple packages, you can take an item or items from additional packages and add them to another. So check off the ITEMS that you want to move into another package. Usually, you'll select the items in Package #2 and/or Package #3 etc....
    • Click on the More Options, button.
    • Click on Move Selected Products to Other Package.
    • In the popup box, you can select the package to move the products to. In this case, it would be Package #1. Also, check the box to Remove Empty Packages, if you don't want to have empty packages in the shipment.
    • When the page refreshes, you'll see the extra packages disappear, and the products that you selected will be in Package #1.

Selecting a Shipping Service & Printing Labels

When you are done manipulating your shipment, the rest is easy.

  • Click the Re-Calculate button at the bottom of the page.
  • The page will refresh, and you'll see the shipping calculator appear. The shipping service that the buyer has selected will be checked by default.
  • If you're using UPS, FedEx, the USPS Endicia Label Server or DHL, at this point you can check the box to Print Labels now and the label will print out. If you would rather process all of your shipments first, and then print them out all at once, you can keep the box unchecked and proceed to Manage Shipments. From there, you can print labels in bulk. See Manage Shipments for more information.

Add Shipment to Order Method

If you find yourself skipping shipments often with the Process Shipments method, this might be a better system to process your shipments.

Here is how to process a shipment from within an order.

  • From in your Order Details Screen, that you can enter from going to Manage Orders and clicking on the Order Number (which should have a 'Ready To Ship' Order Status) scroll down and press the Add Shipment button.
  • In the popup window, you can add a new shipment, or input a manual tracking number. Let's assume you are going to add a new shipment.
  • Check the box(es) for the items you want to add to a new shipment.
  • Press "Next Step"
  • You'll be redirected to a Process Shipments screen.
  • From this screen, you can see/change the customer's address, and much more.
