Definition: Enter predefined box sizes you wish to use for your shipments. When entering dimensions for your products you will then be displayed with a compatible list of boxes you can use for that product. Instead of specifying the product dimensions - you can simply select a predefined size (based on the box size).

  • Packaging Materials: This section will allow you to predefine box sizes you wish to use for your shipments.  Box sizes become useful when having to enter the dimensions for a particular product that you are measuring. When measuring a product, some companies choose to purchase boxes of various different sizes. Entering the box sizes will make things a little easier for you by allowing you to select a predefined box size when measuring your product after packaging. This process will further minimize the time involved for measuring your products.
    • Adding Packaging Materials
      • Under the warehouse name, click “Add Package”.
        • Box Name
          • This field will allow you to describe the box your are entering.
        • Box Width
          • This field defines the width of the box you are entering.
        • Box Height
          • This field defines the height of the box you are entering.
        • Box Length
          • This field defines the length of the box you are entering.
        • Box Maximum Weight
          • Packaging boxes all have a maximum weight that the box can support.  If an item’s weight is too heavy for the selected box size, the system will automatically prompt your to select a more suitable box size.  Even though your package will fit into the selected box size, if your item’s weight exceeds the set amount, the system will prevent you from placing the package in an incompatible box.
        • Inaccuracy
          • This feature will enable you to enter a value that will give you leniency when packaging your item.  For example: If your box size is 5x5x5 (LxWxH) entering 1 (Inch) in this field will demote your 5x5x5 box size to 4x4x4.  The box size will still be 5x5x5 but the entered value of 1” will allow for 1” of packaging material addition to your box.
    • Deleting Packaging Materials
      • To delete a package type, select the package to be deleted from the diagram and click the “Delete Package” button.
    • Packaging Materials Diagram
      • The packaging materials diagram provides an easy view of all currently configured packaging materials. Similar to directories on your computer’s disk drive, the folder hierarchy stems from “Packages”. Any folder you create will be placed under this directory.
