How do I setup my Symbol Wireless Bar Code Scan Gun?

Ensure that the device complies with 802.11b WiFi Wireless which will be compatible with most SOHO Wireless broadband CABLE/DSL routers. The device must also have Windows CE 3.05 or greater or PocketPC 2002 or greater.

On a new PPT2800 series or PDT81XX the scanning ability must be enabled by installing this version of ScanWedge.[1]
On a new PPT2700 series the scanning ability must be enabled by installing this version of ScanWedge.[2]

To synchronize your device with you PC you must perform the following actions:

1. Install Microsoft ActiveSync onto your PC (Required to transfer files to and from the PC)

2. Use serial connection cable to connect PocketPC to PC (or use infrared port if desired)

3. Transfer ScanWedge.exe to your PocketPC and place it in the StartUp directory:
My Device (top directory) / windows / startup

Note: in certain mono devices, you must disable the infrared support before starting ScanWedge. Select "Settings" from the Start menu, then click the "Connections" tab. Chose the Beam icon and make sure the "receive" checkbox is NOT checked.

4. After clicking the ScanWedge.exe program on the PocketPC, or performing a soft reboot, the scanner will work correctly.

5. To enable the scan gun to press enter after each successful bar code scan, on the bottom right corner of the device screen, tap ScanWedge icon. Click "Config" then "Setup". On the next screen you will need to place a check mark on "Send Enter After Suffix."
