The erroneous listing section shows any listings that have been sent back from eBay for some reason or another. This page will show you The auction title, ad number and the error in question. Here are some common errors and solutions.

ERROR: The category selected is not a leaf category.
This error means that the eBay store listing that you have selected for the item does not exist OR is a high level category that cannot contain items. For instance, if you have a category called Hockey Memorabilia and in that category you have a sub-category called New York Rangers, You can not list in the Hockey Memorabilia category.

ERROR: "Features" should have a maximum of 3 values selected.
This error means that in your eBay item specifics, you have selected too many attributes for an item.

ERROR: The remote name could not be resolved: 'api.ebay.com'
This error means that the eBay API is down for some reason. Simply wait a short while and try again.

ERROR: The duration "30" day(s) is not available for this listing type, or invalid for category "X".
This error means that you are trying to list a 30 day auction in a category/listing option that does not allow this option. An auction can not have a 30 day duration, only store listings can.

ERROR: The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words, or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy.
This error means that something in the listing is not agreeing with eBay policy or eBay's listing API. Check your description for VeRO-able terms that could flag eBay, any JavaScript or other text that resembles disallowed code or any keywords they do not allow. This error is most seen because of JavaScript and because new sellers are trying to list high-end brand name products that eBay does not allow.

Unfortunately, this is a generic error that could have a ton of different causes. Just from looking at your description, I noticed that it was copied from another website. It’s using an html div to contain some of the text. Sometimes listings bounce back if there’s formatting code in the description that eBay rejects.

Here’s what I would try:

  1. Copy and paste the whole description text into MS Notepad. That will strip off all of the formatting automatically since notepad doesn’t allow formatting.
  2. Switch to the "code" version of the Laris editor and delete everything that’s there. You can do this by going into the description box and clicking on this button, Image:code.jpg. Then switch back out of the code editor and paste what you have in notepad back in.

If that doesn’t work, try the following:

  1. Use the preview button in Laris to bring up what the auction should look like Right click on the page and choose "view source."
  2. Use the eBay SYI form to try the listing using the html provided from our system. Ebay’s SYI also has a "code" view that you can paste our source code into. EBay returns much more specific errors with the SYI form than it will return to Laris via the API. It should tell you what you need to correct in the listing.
  3. Make the appropriate corrections in Laris, and then try the listing again.
