Definition: Setup, add or modify your e-commerce categories using the form below. These are the categories that you would like to sort your products into on your e-commerce webpage. Overall categories will create a easy to navigate e-commerce webpage, where customers will be able to find what they are looking for. Note: for users operating with multiple warehouse locations, this section is controlled on a per warehouse basis. If you have enabled the "Multiple e-commerce sites" option in control panel Step 2) Mobile Inventory Settings, be sure to set these settings for each new warehouse added.


Setting up your e-commerce categories is vital to the navigation of your e-commerce presence. Here are the basics and some suggestions:

      • Adding A Category
        • To add an e-commerce category, click on the “Add Folder” button to open the new category dialogue where you could specify information about the category you are creating.
          • Choose a top category - This is if you want your new category to be nested within another.
          • Choose a category title
          • The category description is will show up on the top of your category page.  This is very useful for SEO and navigation as you can put HTML in the description box.  There is a 3000 character limit, so use your code and words wisely.
          • Category sort index controls the order of your categories on your ecommerce website. The lower the number specified, the category will display higher on your website.  Otherwise, the categories with the same sort index will be sorted in alphabetical order.
          • The order by drop down menu specifies how you want products in the category to by.
          • The sort drop down will allow you to order your products ascending or descending order.
          • Choose if you want this category to be a promo category.  This will rotate products in this category on your homepage in certain templates.
          • You can also make a category inactive by checking the Inactive checkbox.
        • When you are finished, click the “Add Category” button. NOTE the "Add Category" button is INSIDE the editing window.  Scroll down and see the correct button.  The "Add Category" button to the right is to add a NEW category.
      • Editing A Category
        • To edit a category or change its attributes, click on the category name from the diagram to display its details.
        • When the details are displayed, you are free to change the category name and change other valuable information about the category.
      • Deleting A Category
        • If you would like to delete a Category, click Its name in the diagram and click the “Delete Category” button. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion of the category.
      • Category Diagram
        • The category diagram provides an easy view of your category structure.
